Miku Martineau discusses rowing training and sports background for Crew Girl

Actress Miku Martineau spoke about her preparation for the Netflix series Crew Girl during an interview at New York Fashion Week.

Martineau's athletic history influences role

The 22-year-old actress grew up playing hockey and gymnastics before taking on this part. She expressed interest in creating a female version of the show Heated Rivalry based on her experience. Martineau noted that she had never done a coming-of-age sports romance story prior to this project.

Three-week bootcamp taught rowing skills

The cast attended a three-week bootcamp to learn how to row accurately for the series. Martineau stated that all actors participated in the training to portray the sport correctly. She admitted having little knowledge about rowing before filming began on the show.

Series premiere date confirmed

Crew Girl premiered on Netflix on September 10 after the production wrapped. Martineau watched the finished product at home after returning from a day of press events in New York. The Toronto native played a high school student forced to move for an elite prep school.
