Rumors originate from Josh Greenstein

Mike De Luca began hearing about his potential ouster over a month ago. Sources indicate that Josh Greenstein, co-chair of Paramount Pictures, told other executives he wanted to remove Abdy and De Luca. Other sources suggested the comment concerned general stability rather than specific individuals.

De Luca confronts Greenstein directly

De Luca decided to call Greenstein to demand an explanation for the accusations. Greenstein denied making such statements and blamed the situation on a bad game of telephone. The deal remained in limbo due to an ongoing antitrust suit at the time.

Greenstein and Goldberg take control

Abdy and De Luca learned that Greenstein and Dana Goldberg would lead both film divisions. They were informed they had lost their jobs just before the deal was finalized. The duo has run the studio since 2022.
