Man apologises to Prince William after mistaking him for singer Prince
Prince William recounted an encounter with a man who confused him with the late musician Prince during a visit to a cafe in Somerset earlier this month.

The mistaken identity incident
A 22-year-old named Sebastian Smith mistook Prince William for the singer Prince while at Sweet Surprise cafe in Ilminster, Somerset. The future King explained that Smith asked when he would sing Purple Rain after calling him a lovely gentleman. Smith has Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome and works at the cafe which provides education for adults with learning difficulties.
Family response to the visit
Smith's mother Claire told the Sun that her son had no idea who Prince William was before the meeting. She stated that Sebastian is a massive fan of the singer and knows all his songs and lyrics. The family says Smith is now writing a letter to apologize for the mix-up and thank the royal.
