Kennedy reflects on tenure challenges

The producer described the position as an incredible challenge following George Lucas handpicking her to lead the company. She noted that while she received a few paragraphs of story ideas, she did not get full treatments. Kennedy stated that these jobs are not easy and leaving brought a sense of relief.

Career history before Star Wars

Before taking the helm at Lucasfilm, Kennedy worked as a creative collaborator with Steven Spielberg on major titles like Jurassic Park. Her production credits also include Lincoln, Munich, Back to the Future, Twisters and Gremlins. She recalled asking Lucas for direction on storytelling after he selected her as his successor.

Mixed reception during leadership

Kennedy served as the face of the brand during both peaks and valleys of the franchise. Her tenure included fan praise for Andor alongside significant outrage regarding The Acolyte. She faced criticism in certain corners while managing the legacy of one of the biggest American film franchises.
