Kacey Musgraves performed Dolly Parton tribute at 2026 MTV VMAs
Kacey Musgraves honored the late Dolly Parton by performing a cover of her hit song during the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday in Los Angeles.
Remote performance at Peacock Theater
Musgraves performed one of Parton's biggest hits from the stage of the Peacock Theater. She was not present at the ceremony in person despite the tribute airing onscreen. The song was originally written and recorded by Parton in 1973.
Previous shared stage moments
The two artists shared many moments together before Parton died in August at age 80. They performed together at the 2019 Grammys and Musgraves presented an award to Parton in 2016. Musgraves also paid tribute to her late friend during a concert in Boston shortly after the death.
