Director James Gunn announced on Threads that he has begun writing his next project while waiting for the assembly cut of Superman: Man of Tomorrow to be finalized ahead of its July 9, 2027 theatrical release.

Lars Eidinger plays the superintelligent antagonist Brainiac while Rachel Brosnahan reprises her role as Lois Lane. The story involves Superman teaming up with his adversary to defeat a larger threat.
Returning and new cast members
Skyler Gisondo returns as Jimmy Olsen and Sara Sampaio plays Eve Teschmacher in the sequel. Isabela Merced appears as Hawkgirl and Nathan Fillion portrays Guy Gardner alongside Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific. Milly Alcock returns after her cameo as Superman's cousin Kara Zor-El in the previous summer.
