Acquisition details and scope

The deal brings Outsyders into the Lightstorm family to build an end-to-end 3D production process. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed by either party. The combined entities will merge their technologies to offer conversion and native photographic 3D solutions.

Outsiders previous projects

The company was established by Paul Becker, Jared Sandrew, and Chris Harvey in 2024. Their portfolio includes work on Imax Blue Angels, Disney Lilo & Stitch, and Moana. They also collaborated with Cameron on the Billie Eilish concert documentary.

Future production plans

The partnership aims to produce new 3D versions of existing films using AI models. Leaders state this method could reduce time and cost compared to traditional conversion. James Cameron described the acquired team as having world-class work and tools.
