Pressly supports former cast members

Jaime Pressly joined Anna Faris in addressing criticism from show co-creator Chuck Lorre. She told E! News that she enjoyed working with an incredible crew and cast of women for seven years. Pressly described the actresses as beautifully flawed, just like their characters on the series.

Lorre admits initial hiring doubts

Chuck Lorre wrote in his book Sitcom that he was right to be reluctant about casting Faris as the lead. He explained that he initially worried she would not be appropriate for this kind of material. The writer also mentioned how badly he had bungled his working relationship with Charlie Sheen.

Faris departed before final season

Anna Faris left the show in 2020 ahead of its final season to open herself up to other opportunities. Lorre stated that years passed before it became apparent his initial reluctance to hire her was correct.
