Court Orders Asset Confiscation

Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court ordered the seizure of all movable and immovable assets belonging to Panahi. The judge also imposed a two-year ban on his social media activities alongside the travel restriction.

Director Remains in Country

Mansour Jahani reported that Panahi is currently inside Iran despite the new judgment being issued in his absence. The filmmaker had previously faced a one-year sentence while promoting his film It Was Just an Accident abroad.

Retrial Ordered for Filmmaker

The court mandated a retrial for Panahi after the initial sentencing occurred when he was outside the nation. Legal uncertainty continues to surround the proceedings against this longtime political activist within the Iranian justice system.
