Court orders asset seizure

The court also ordered the confiscation of Panahi's assets. A two-year ban on social media use and a two-year travel ban were included in the order.

Verdict issued while abroad

Panahi's lawyer Mostafa Nili stated the verdict was delivered in absentia after accounts were frozen last week. The director returned to Iran on March 30, 2026, following his film's nomination for an Academy Award.

Implementation remains discretionary

Nili noted that the implementation of both rulings is currently discretionary. It remains unclear what specific charges led to this separate ruling.
