Plot centers on new bride

A twenty-year-old woman named Gadis becomes the fourth wife of a fifty-year-old man named Abi. She claims to see ghosts, but her husband explains that Islam recognizes jinn rather than ghosts. The character Indah, who is thirty-five years old, teaches Gadis how to manage the household.

Search for missing child

While Abi travels overseas, their seven-year-old son Firman goes missing from the home. Ghosts assist Indah and Gadis in searching for the boy until his body is found near a river. The discovery creates a conflict between the wives regarding tradition and their own moral choices.

Director draws on personal life

Mouly Surya states that the film subject matter is deeply personal to her. Her immediate family includes members with multiple wives, and she has a friend who sees spirits. The project sits on a set within the Asian Contents and Film Market.
