Horror films including Other Mommy and Pan’s Labyrinth arrive in theaters this week
Several horror movies and a re-release of Pan's Labyrinth open in US cinemas on Friday, October 9.
Other Mommy leads the lineup
The film Other Mommy opens on Friday with Universal, Blumhouse, and Atomic Monster as distributors. Jessica Chastain plays a mother who appears as a sinister entity to a young girl named Bela. Director Rob Savage is helming this adaptation of Josh Malerman's 2024 novel Incidents Around the House.
Pan's Labyrinth returns for anniversary
Cineverse releases the 20th anniversary edition of Guillermo del Toro's Oscar-winning dark fantasy on the same day. The story follows a young girl named Ofelia living in Spain during the Spanish Civil War in 1944. Ivana Baquero portrays Ofelia while Sergi López plays her cruel stepfather in this military outpost setting.
More titles follow later
Additional horror titles are scheduled to open over the next few weeks following these initial releases. Some of these upcoming films will be re-releases rather than new productions. Audiences can expect a variety of scares from these various theatrical openings.
