Feelings during original filming period

Duff stated she felt exhausted after filming thirty episodes in one year followed by thirty-five the next. She described feeling like a huge star while everyone called her Lizzie rather than Hilary Duff. The actress said she did not want to sing the iconic song when the movie concluded.

Current perspective on the music

She re-recorded the track for her 2026 EP titled Mine and performed it live this year. Duff explained that singing the song now feels much better than it did previously. She noted she no longer owns the original recording but feels it is hers to sing.
