Artist dedicates performance to friend

Styles introduced the song during his Together, Together residency in New York. He stated that he wrote the piece two years ago for his late bandmate. The singer noted that Payne died on October 16 after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina.

Lyrics reflect themes of loss

The lyrics appear to discuss remembrance and looking after one another during difficult times. Styles shared footage with the audience while explaining the personal significance of the building. He expressed hope that others have not experienced similar tragedies in their own lives.
