Hans Zimmer says new Harry Potter music will differ from John Williams scores
Composer Hans Zimmer told Collider that the score for HBO's upcoming Harry Potter reboot will be as different as possible from John Williams' original work.
Zimmer avoids copying Williams style
In an interview with Collider, Hans Zimmer stated he cannot write music like John Williams. He added that even if he could, he would try to stay away from the original composer's style. This approach follows his experience working on the Superman film Man of Steel after Williams scored the earlier movies.
Producer support helped Zimmer succeed
Christopher Nolan produced Man of Steel and pushed director Zack Snyder to check on Zimmer's progress during the scoring process. Snyder called Zimmer to ask if he could visit, and Zimmer admitted he did not have a tune ready at that time. Zimmer eventually came up with a melody before Nolan arrived for his Tuesday visit.
HBO releases new trailer footage
HBO has released trailers for its upcoming Harry Potter reboot that share similarities with the original films. The music in these new projects will be totally different from the previous scores. Zimmer previously scored Man of Steel after Williams composed for the 1978 and 1980 Superman films.
