French film La Gradiva wins top prizes at Queer Lisboa festival
Marine Atlan's debut feature La Gradiva took the best feature and Audience Awards at the 30th Queer Lisboa International Queer Film Festival in Lisbon.
French debut wins major awards
The film received both the best feature film prize and the Audience Award. It also secured the top prize at Cannes Critics Week earlier this year. The story follows French students on a school trip to Pompeii led by a passionate teacher.
Spanish documentary shares honors
Lorena Ros' documentary Up and Running won best documentary and the Audience Award for that category. The film examines homelessness among trans ex-prisoners in Barcelona. This edition marked the largest gathering in the festival's history.
Record attendance breaks records
More than 11,500 people attended the event across 67 screenings over nine days. That number represents a 53 percent increase compared to the previous year. The festival closed on Saturday with a screening of Leah Nelson's animated feature Tangles.
