Festival marks fifty years of the organization

This event celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival which occurred earlier this June. Executive director Allegra Madsen stated that the audience has redefined how people experience cinema over the last half century. The showcase aims to build community around these films rather than having viewers watch them passively.

Screening schedule begins with Dolly Parton tribute

The first screening takes place on October 11 and honors the late singer Dolly Parton. Viewers will see a retrospective presentation of her movie titled 9 to 5 at the start of the run. The festival continues through November with showings in various locations throughout the city.

Curated films explore shared history and memory

The lineup includes titles such as Clarissa, Coward, Elsinore, Mouse, and Tangles to highlight specific stories. Each film serves as an act of remembering individuals who shaped the shared history of the community. Organizers believe these narratives deserve a place in the record witnessed by a full room.
