Saint was born in New Jersey on July 4, 1924. She studied acting at Bowling Green State University before starting work in television as an NBC page.
Major film roles and awards
Her first Oscar came in 1955 for her role in On the Waterfront opposite Marlon Brando. She later starred with Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift in Raintree County in 1957.
Later television work
Saint received an Emmy win in 1990 for her performance in the television movie People Like Us. She continued to appear in projects throughout her long career until her passing.
