Eddie Murphy is set to star in the new Peacock drama series The Chairman, a project created by Matthew Weiner.

Murphy makes scripted TV debut
This role marks his first appearance in a live-action scripted television series. He previously appeared as a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 1980 to 1984. His earlier television work consisted only of voice acting for the animated show The PJs.

Universal Television and 101 Studios will handle production duties for the new series. David Glasser leads 101 Studios, which holds a first-look deal with NBCUniversal starting in January. The project also represents the initial output from Chris McCarthy's consulting agreement at the studio.
