Rare archive items on display

The show features over 100 objects selected from a collection of 90,000 housed in the David Bowie Centre. Many of these items have never been seen in public before this event. Visitors can view his first saxophone, a songwriting stopwatch, and an advance copy of a 1967 record.

Personal letters included in show

The exhibition also displays a letter from Bowie's London neighbours complaining about noise levels in December 1973. This missive was addressed to Mr Bowy and requested that music be played more softly. The collection marks the first time items from his archive acquired by the V&A in London are shown here.

Bowie's early Scottish performance

The venue is located near the Palais de Dans where Bowie performed under a new stage name in 1966. That concert was not the headline act but it started a relationship with local fans that continues today.
