Recent Weight Training Progress

The actor posted a video on his Instagram story showing his current weight is 250 pounds. He indicated this gain occurred after he resumed weight training two months ago. Bautista previously stated he needed more time to reach the required physical condition for the part.

Casting Change Context

Prime Video replaced Ryan Hurst in August because the actor tore his bicep during a stunt. The injury required surgery and would have pushed production into 2027 if filming continued with Hurst. All scenes originally shot with Hurst must now be reshot using Bautista.

Series Plot Overview

The show follows Kratos and his ten-year-old son Atreus as they travel to spread the ashes of their mother Faye. The narrative explores how the father teaches his son to be a better god while the boy helps him become a better human. Filming began in Vancouver in February before the casting switch occurred.
