Toronto-based virtual production studio Dark Slope has acquired the assets of competitor Pixomondo from its Sony Entertainment subsidiary locations in Toronto and Vancouver.

The Toronto campus of Dark Slope is currently 75,000 square feet. The acquired Toronto facility previously housed the second-largest LED stage in North America before closing. Dark Slope also purchased operations from Pixomondo's Vancouver studio.
Technology And Cost Savings
The companies use LED volume screens and motion-tracking cameras to create computer-generated backgrounds in real-time. This method aims to save hundreds of thousands of dollars for productions. The technology allows filmmakers to build custom environments without an elevated price tag.

Dan Fill serves as the president of Dark Slope. He stated that the acquisition helps solve budget and schedule problems for evolving projects. The studio focuses on giving filmmakers an elevated look while managing costs effectively.
