Curry Barker releases new horror short film Mama Bear on YouTube
Director Curry Barker released a new five-minute horror short titled Mama Bear on his YouTube channel ahead of Halloween.
Film release and sponsorship details
The short was published directly on Barker's YouTube channel. A description accompanying the video notes that Windows sponsored this specific project. Barker wrote, directed, and edited the nearly five-minute film himself.
Connection to previous work
Some viewers interpret the title as a nod to his breakout film Obsession because a main character is named Bear. The director previously rose to prominence by acting and directing YouTube videos before making the feature hit.
Upcoming feature project plans
Barker will follow this short with a horror-comedy called Anything But Ghosts set for release in May 2027. He co-wrote that script with Cooper Tomlinson and will direct the project alongside his longtime collaborator.
