Chinese sci-fi thriller Variant secures international distribution deals at Tokyo film market
Cappu Films and other sales partners announced global distribution agreements for the Chinese science fiction film Variant at the Tokyo International Film Festival market.
North American and European rights sold
International Media Network acquired the United States and Canadian territories for the movie. MT Trading secured distribution in Germany, Austria, and German-speaking Switzerland. Blue Swan Entertainment obtained rights for Italy and surrounding Italian-speaking regions.
Asian and Latin American markets covered
Great Movies took over distribution across Latin America while Media4Fun handled Poland. Dimension Pictures acquired the South Asian territories known as SAARC. San Chi Films secured the deal for Taiwan, and a separate agreement was made for Japan.
Plot details and cast announced
The story follows Jamie, who returns to Earth after an alien attack on his spacecraft twenty years ago. He must now confront a new variant of the creature that destroyed his family. Jim Liu leads the cast alongside Shuting Yang and Philippe Joly.
