Production team and casting

The project is being produced by Blake Northfield, Michelle Krumm, and Shaun Goodman. Veteran casting directors Lisa Beach and Sarah Katzman are leading the search for an ensemble cast. They have worked on comedies, dramas, action films, westerns, and television series.

Story setting and plot

The film is set in California during the Gold Rush of 1848. The narrative follows four women from different backgrounds who are thrown together by circumstance. They must navigate a male-dominated world while fighting to reclaim their homestead.

Director comments on project

Hardwicke expressed excitement about approaching the western genre from a different perspective. She noted that she loves the scale and mythology of the genre as a Texan. The production aims to explore survival in a world where laws are being rewritten.
