Amazon Prime Video has cast German actor Emilio Sakraya as the character Xaden Riorson in its upcoming TV adaptation of Rebecca Yarros' novel Fourth Wing.

Variety reported that Sakraya will star opposite Esther McGregor, who plays Violet Sorrengail. The actor brings credits from films like Rhinegold and Tribes of Europa to this role. Amazon declined to comment on the casting announcement.

The project was ordered by Amazon in May following the release of the first book. The series is set inside the fictional Basgiath War College where graduates must survive or die. Sequels to the original novel are scheduled for release later this year.
