Alien cat agent Maomao struggles with catnip addiction in Taiwan animated series
Animated series Operation Maomao featuring an alien cat agent premieres at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest in Taipei.
Agent 19 abandons invasion plans
The character Agent 19 arrives on Earth to seize the planet's catnip supply but fails to complete his mission. A human resident finds the agent and provides him with canned tuna and a steady diet of catnip. Two years into the timeline, the invasion progress stands at only five percent while the agent's boss remains angry.
Creator draws inspiration from pet
Shaogao creator Jonathan Yu developed the story based on his wife's cat named 19. The animator moved to Canada when he was ten years old and later founded his animation brand in 2017. He states that observing his pet stare at walls and knock items off tables inspired the character's mysterious behavior.
