Jury selects best film and silver award

The international jury awarded the Golden Spike to Gomis' three-hour family saga that spans Europe and Africa. Marine Atlan's debut feature La Gradiva took home the Silver Spike at the same event. The festival recognized the distinct cinematic form of the winning entry through its use of rhythm and movement.

Films explore migration and family traditions

Gomis' story unfolds between a wedding in France and an ancestral ceremony in Guinea-Bissau. The production gathers both professional and non-professional performers to examine inherited traditions and migration themes. Variety's Guy Lodge described the work as the director's most vibrantly expansive and accessible project.

Other awards go to editing and LGBTQ cinema

La Gradiva also received the Rainbow Spike for its focus on LGBTQ-related cinema topics. Guillaume Lillo won the José Salcedo editing prize for his work on the French-Italian feature. The Party Film Sales handles international distribution while Janus Films holds North American rights.
