World Bank says Pakistan incomes could triple by 2050 with faster reforms
The World Bank Group released a new report on Thursday stating Pakistan can triple its incomes by 2050 through accelerated structural reforms.

Recent economic progress noted
Sound policies have stabilised the economy despite regional conflict impacts. Real GDP growth rose to 3.7 percent in fiscal year 2026 from 3.2 percent the previous year. Record primary fiscal surpluses reached 2.9 percent of gross domestic product while strong remittances rebuilt foreign exchange reserves.
Credit rating upgrades follow
Two major agencies upgraded Pakistan after these improvements allowed a return to international debt markets. The country issued a US$3 billion Eurobond following these recognitions by S&P and Moody's. Markets have acknowledged the real progress made in restoring stability according to officials.
Urgent need for change
Real per capita growth remains stuck at around 1.6 percent despite overall economic gains. The lender says urgent reforms are needed to drive faster growth and job creation. Pakistan must follow the path of other successful countries to achieve this potential.
