Requests from tax experts

Javed Iqbal Qazi of the Pakistan Tax Advisers Association sent a communication to the FBR chairman on Monday. He argued that financial constraints and slow functioning of the IRIS system prevent practitioners from meeting the current target. About 60 to 65 percent of the work is complete, but new columns in return forms require more time for submission.

Concerns from small traders

Leaders of the Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry also joined the plea for an extension. They stated that final return forms notified on September 2 left taxpayers with limited time to compile information. The group highlighted technical issues with the IRIS portal and difficulties in wealth statement reconciliation as major obstacles.

Specific date proposed

The traders specifically urged officials to extend the deadline to October 31, 2026. Tax consultants noted that depositing tax through CPRNS in banks and submitting on the IRIS system adds significant burden. Both groups believe the existing extension is insufficient given the heavy quantum of returns required.
