New thresholds for individual borrowers

The regulator wants to increase the maximum loan limit for microenterprise and housing finance to Rs5 million. Individual borrower income eligibility will rise from Rs1.2 million to Rs1.5 million under these draft rules.

Updated classification for small businesses

Proposed changes adjust the annual turnover range for small enterprises to Rs30 million up to Rs400 million. Medium-sized business limits are set between Rs400 million and Rs2 billion in the new framework.

Alignment with banking sector rules

These SME thresholds match recent adjustments introduced by the State Bank of Pakistan. The commission issued the proposals for public consultation to gather stakeholder feedback.
