SECP proposes more insurance tribunals and digital complaint system in Pakistan
The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan has recommended expanding insurance tribunals and creating a digital complaints system to handle policyholder grievances nationwide.

The regulator presented these recommendations in a report titled Strengthening Insurance Grievance Redressal in Pakistan. The document reviewed current methods for resolving insurance-related complaints and noted that existing forums received 37,029 complaints in 2025.
Tribunals need geographical expansion
SECP asked the Ministry of Law and Justice to increase the number of tribunals based on local needs. The commission also wants a published list of sessions courts designated as insurance tribunals with timely member appointments.
SDRCs require digitisation
The proposal includes expanding the scope and coverage of Small Dispute Resolution Committees across the country. These committees should periodically review financial thresholds and adopt online submission for complaints and document sharing.
