Unit monitors open-source information

The new unit will scan news reports, social media posts, and digital advertisements to find potential breaches before complaints arrive. Verified leads discovered through this process will be sent to relevant SECP departments for further inquiry or enforcement action.

Information shared with agencies

When appropriate, the commission plans to share findings with the FIA, NCCIA, State Bank of Pakistan and NAB. This collaboration aims to strengthen early-warning capacity and support timely regulatory intervention across multiple sectors.

Legal basis for creation

The Corporate Intelligence Unit is being established under Section 20 of the SECP Act, 1997. It operates as part of the Chairman's Secretariat to convert open-source information into verified regulatory leads.
