Salt Manufacturers Association asks FBR for tax return extension due to system glitches
The Salt Manufacturers Association of Pakistan chairman in Karachi requested the Federal Board of Revenue to extend the income tax filing deadline on October 12 because of technical issues.
Technical problems hinder online filing
Ismail Sattar stated that repeated problems with the IRIS portal prevent many taxpayers from completing their returns. He pointed out that delays in getting return forms have created significant hurdles for individuals and businesses trying to meet the current deadline.
Officials seek penalty protection
The association chairman argued that an extension would allow people to file accurate returns without facing penalties for difficulties outside their control. Sattar urged the revenue board to provide a suitable additional period so taxpayers are not unfairly affected by administrative delays or technical faults.
Request targets specific deadline
Salt manufacturers want the Federal Board of Revenue to grant more time for submission because of ongoing glitches on the online filing system. The request aims to ensure traders and businesses can meet their legal responsibilities without interference from system disruptions.
