PRGMEA elects new leadership for 2026-28 term in Lahore

Sohail Afzal Sheikh takes central chair

Sohail Afzal Sheikh was elected as Central Chairman of the association. Aamir Lakhani and Ansar Aziz Puri were named Senior Vice Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively. Members of the apparel and business community congratulated the newly elected leadership.

Industry faces major transformation period

Sheikh stated that the sector is entering a period of significant change. He noted that sustainability, digitalisation, traceability and evolving buyer requirements are critical for global competitiveness. The association must prepare for emerging rules like the EU Digital Product Passport.

Leadership calls for policy support

The new chairman stressed the need to safeguard GSP+ market access and address US tariffs. He also called for competitive energy costs and streamlined regulations to improve the business environment. The association aims to strengthen its internal systems while expanding international market access.
