Pakistan large-scale manufacturing grows 3.03 percent in July

The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics reported that the Large Scale Manufacturing sector grew 3.03 percent year-on-year in July 2026.

Automobiles drive overall growth

The automobile sector registered a remarkable increase of 57.01 percent during the month. Other transport equipment also posted strong gains with a rise of 40.22 percent in output. These specific industries pulled the broader manufacturing index up significantly compared to June figures.

Mixed performance across sectors

Tobacco industries grew by 35.82 percent while wearing apparel saw a rise of 22.03 percent. Conversely, food production dragged the overall growth down by 0.45 percent during this period. The data indicates that industrial activity rebounded after a contraction recorded in June.

Sector contributions vary widely

Coke and petroleum products increased by 1.34 percent alongside leather products which rose by 0.73 percent. Furniture manufacturing grew at a rate of 22.69 percent according to the provisional data released on Wednesday. The Quantum Index of Manufacturing stood at 119.13 points against 115.62 points from the previous year.
