Pakistan inflation rises to 11.38 percent driven by food costs
The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics reported that short-term inflation reached 11.38 percent year-on-year for the week ending October 15, 2026, in Islamabad.

Weekly price index falls slightly
The Sensitive Price Index decreased by 0.04 percent week-on-week to 372.43 points. This slight drop occurred despite a year-on-year increase of 11.38 percent for the combined consumption group. Prices for 23 essential items rose while seven declined during the period.
Food and fuel prices vary
Tomato prices fell by 23.05 percent, whereas onion costs surged by 75.19 percent year-on-year. Other increases included pulse gram at 4.97 percent and wheat flour at 3.36 percent. Energy costs saw minor weekly declines for petrol and diesel but contributed to overall inflation pressure.
Market basket remains stable
Twenty-one items in the index remained unchanged from the previous week. The data covers 51 commodities collected from markets across 17 cities. Households face continued pressure as energy costs indirectly boost sales tax collections.
