Pakistan government lowers petrol and diesel prices effective Wednesday

New fuel rates take effect
Petrol will now sell at Rs387.54 per litre while high-speed diesel costs Rs402.24 per litre. These changes follow a notification from the Petroleum Division issued on Tuesday regarding global market shifts. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority revised prices based on updated Platts rates and incidentals.
Previous price adjustments
A review conducted on Monday had previously lowered petrol by Rs2.27 and diesel by Rs3.56 per litre. Global crude futures declined as investors noted recovering exports from the Middle East despite regional conflict concerns.
Related government measures
The state continues to levy Rs114 per litre in taxes on petrol and Rs100 per litre on diesel. Authorities have also reintroduced austerity measures including market closures by 9pm and reduced fuel allocations for official vehicles.
