The Pakistani government reduced petrol and high-speed diesel prices starting Wednesday, September 23.
New retail fuel rates announced
Petrol will now sell for Rs392.05 per litre while high-speed diesel costs Rs418.96 per litre. These changes follow a review of global market conditions and specific incidentals affecting the cost of supply.
Previous price adjustments noted
Earlier this year, authorities increased petrol prices by Rs4.61 and lowered diesel rates by Rs1.96 per litre. The current reduction brings diesel down from a peak of Rs520.35 recorded in April.
Global market factors cited
Oil prices fell recently as prospects for Gulf supplies improved and Iran signaled it could reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Brent crude futures dropped to $98.23 a barrel at 1151 GMT on Tuesday.
