MSC restores direct shipping link between Karachi and major European ports
Federal Maritime Affairs Minister Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry announced on Thursday that Mediterranean Shipping Company has reinstated a direct Europe service for Karachi.

Service details and route coverage
The carrier will operate weekly calls at the Karachi Gateway Terminal International. This route connects the port city with destinations including Colombo, Felixstowe, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Antwerp, Le Havre and London Gateway.
Reason for the restoration
Exporters had previously reported that disruptions on international shipping routes caused longer transit times and increased freight costs. The minister noted these issues were particularly linked to changes in shipping routes connected to the situation in the Red Sea.
Impact on local industries
The dedicated service aims to help export-oriented industries, especially the textile sector, regain competitiveness. Longer vessel journeys had previously increased transportation costs and delivery times for shipments to European and US markets.
