New rates take effect this month

Ogra issued a notification raising the cost of liquefied petroleum gas per kilogram. The standard domestic cylinder price increased by Rs244.14 to reach Rs3,296.23 for an 11.8kg unit. This adjustment applies to all households relying on this fuel for cooking and heating needs.

Global market drives the hike

The regulatory body cited a surge in global market prices as the reason for the change. Ogra calculated the producer price at Rs238,041.49 per tonne for October compared to September figures. Additional costs include excise duty, petroleum levy, and marketing margins added to the base rate.

Winter demand adds pressure

Consumers will face higher fuel expenses just before the winter season when demand typically rises. The increase comes alongside soaring petrol prices which already strain household budgets. Distribution costs may also rise as everyday essentials become more expensive for families.
