Hubco confirms BYD plant target for late 2026 launch
Hub Power Company management stated at a meeting that its BYD vehicle assembly plant will begin operations by the end of 2026 in Karachi.

Initial production relies on imports
The facility will start using only imported raw materials and components before local content grows. Management aims to reach an 80 per cent localisation rate over the long term. This strategy should improve cost competitiveness and reduce dependence on foreign parts.
Sales volume targets set
Production is expected to ramp up to between 1,000 and 1,500 vehicles per month. The company plans to add new models in phases rather than launching them all at once. Analysts note that operations could start within four or five weeks of the announcement.
Phased model introduction plan
Additional vehicle categories will be introduced based on sales potential and price segments. The approach avoids indiscriminate launches to ensure competitive pricing supports market share gains. Local content is expected to increase gradually as the project matures.
